Hidden Easter treats at the Harris Hotel

The island’s Easter celebrations turned distinctly chocolatey on Saturday, March 30th as families gathered at the Harris Hotel for Rionnagan Oga’s annual Easter Egg hunt.

With guidance from the Easter Bunny and Easter Chick, around 80 children searched the hotel garden for hidden treats tucked away amid the spring flowers and shrubbery.

It was a dry day for both the hunt and the parade afterwa

rds, led by pipers Eilidh MacDonald and Ellie Laurie to Tarbert Community Centre, where the celebrations continued with a party, including a bouncy castle, craft activities and a café, run by the Sir E Scott School Mòd committee.

The annual celebration is organised by Rionnagan Oga, a parent-run group which looks after the Tarbert soft play and runs the local baby and toddler clubs. This year more than 2500 Easter eggs were hidden.

“So many local volunteers help put this fantastic event together,” said the organisers. “Thank you to Harris Hotel for letting us run around the garden again this year, to Tarbert Community Centre for the perfect fun day venue, Eilidh and Ellie for the wonderful piping, Chloe and Emma for face painting, Eilidh and Amber for being our bunny and chick, Alana and Maddy for volunteering, Jake for clearing up at the egg hunt and the Mòd parents com-mittee for a fantastic cafe. And all the parents for help-ing to set up, clear up and their kinds donations of chocolate eggs.”
